The air-cooled four-cylinder engine displaces 4,085 cm³ and, depending on the stated rated speed of 2,350 or 2,200 rpm, delivers 56.7 kW, equivalent to 77 horsepower, with 270 Nm of torque. With a weight of 2,810 kg, a wheelbase of 2,350 mm and a top speed of 30 km/h, the Agrolux 80 was built for versatile work on medium-sized holdings.

Two stated rated speeds for the same engine often point to different emissions standards or market versions of the same base engine, where output varies slightly depending on calibration. The air-cooled design of this four-cylinder engine was still common at SAME Deutz Fahr in this power class before water cooling took over on larger engines.

When buying a used Agrolux 80, the cooling airflow around the four-cylinder engine should be checked for fouling, since air-cooled engines overheat quickly once the cooling fins are clogged. The hydraulic system and three-point linkage also deserve a check under load, as these components are placed under particular strain during intensive agricultural use. A look at the exhaust colour under load can also reveal whether the air-cooled engine is running with the correct fuel-air mixture for its calibration.
