With twin- and triple-axle versions up to 5,000 kg gross weight, the range sits in the medium payload bracket between a car trailer and a light tandem-axle trailer; the multi-axle types are built for heavier loads and larger load beds than the basic twin-axle versions.

When buying a used multi-axle trailer, check that all axles run evenly and are in good condition, along with corrosion on the chassis and load bed, the operation of the braking system and the overrun brake coupling, and the condition of the tyres. Spares for axles and brakes are available through the general trailer parts trade, brand-specific fittings more narrowly.
