Renault Super 4-Baureihe

The water-cooled three-cylinder engine displaces 2,038 cm³ and delivers 22.1 kW at 2,000 rpm, equivalent to 30 horsepower. With a weight of 1,780 kg, a wheelbase of 1,870 mm and a width of 1,520 mm, plus a top speed of 25 km/h, the Super 4 was a typical representative of the lower standard class of its time.

Three-cylinder diesel engines of just over two litres displacement filled the gap between smaller two-cylinder models and larger four-cylinder tractors in the early 1960s, offering smoother running than two-cylinder units at moderate purchase cost. The width of 1,520 mm matched the standard dimension typical for arable farm tractors at the time.

When buying a used Super 4, the radiator and water pump should be checked for leaks, since these parts are often worn after decades of use. The clutch and gearbox also deserve a test drive under load, as spare parts for this series are today mostly obtainable through specialist collectors and restorers. A look underneath the engine for oil traces also gives a good indication of the condition of the crankshaft seal.
