The Renault Master is the French manufacturer's large van and, since the early 2010s, has formed a jointly developed range with the Opel/Vauxhall Movano and the Nissan NV400, built at the Batilly plant in France. In heavy chassis versions with twin rear tyres, it often serves as the basis for box-body conversions by bodybuilders.

The 2.3-litre dCi four-cylinder diesel is the standard engine of this Master generation. At 3,500 kg gross vehicle weight and 2,502 kg kerb weight, the payload comes to around 1,000 kg. The six wheels with twin rear tyres, the long 4,330 mm wheelbase and the 6,540 mm overall length point to a chassis built for a long, high-volume body, while the 2,100 mm width matches the cab width.

At 3,500 kg gross vehicle weight the vehicle stays in EU category N1 and can be driven on a category B licence. Twin rear tyres improve stability under tall, crosswind-prone box bodies and spread the axle load over a larger contact area under full load.

When buying a used Master chassis with twin rear tyres, it is worth checking that rear brakes and tyres wear evenly between the two wheels on each side, since a pressure difference leads to one-sided wear. The 2.3-litre dCi engine needs attention to the condition of the dual-mass flywheel and the turbocharger. On the body itself, the mounting points to the chassis should be checked for rust and loose bolted connections.
