The register lists here 3 versions with 66.2 to 81 kW, or 90 to 110 hp, from four-cylinder engines of 4,525 cm³, torque from 345 to 406 Nm, unladen weights from 5,135 to 5,165 kg and uniform dimensions of 6,150 mm length, 2,550 mm width and 2,945 mm height, at a rated speed of 2,200 rpm.

With power between 90 and 110 hp, the Ares 500 range was positioned in the mid segment of the Renault line-up and competed with comparable ranges from Fendt, Deutz-Fahr, Massey Ferguson and Case IH; the uniform dimensions of the three models point to a shared chassis with graded engine power.

On a used Ares 500, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, the tightness of the hydraulics and PTO, rust on the chassis and cab mountings, and the condition of the electronic displays all count; parts now run through the Claas network, which took over Renault's tractor division in 2003. The condition of the cab's front dampers is also worth assessing, as their wear directly affects ride comfort and the durability of the cab suspension.
