The 90 series continues Renault's two-digit type logic of the 1980s and 1990s one step above the 80 series; the models covered here, 92, 94 and 96, were built, like Renault's other field tractors of the period, at the Le Mans plant in France. With power reaching up to 82 hp, the 90 series covered the upper mid-range of the Renault line-up and competed with comparable ranges from Fiat, Massey Ferguson, Ford and Deutz-Fahr; as a field tractor for medium to larger farms it was common in France and other European markets.
On a used 90-series tractor, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, rust on the chassis and sheet-metal panels, the tightness of the hydraulics, and the condition of the cab and electrics all count; parts for these model years are available through specialist farm-machinery dealers and the Claas network, which took over Renault's tractor division in 2003. The tightness of the cooling system and the condition of the radiator are also worth checking, as overheating is a common and costly issue in tractors of this class.
