Reform Werke Bauer & Co Muli

The water-cooled four-cylinder engine displaces 1,760 cm³ and delivers 29.42 kW at 3,000 rpm, equivalent to 40 horsepower. Depending on version, the Muli 40 weighs between 1,760 and 2,250 kg, pointing to different bodies or equipment variants of the same base vehicle. With a top speed of 25 km/h and a wheelbase of 2,400 mm, it was built for mixed transport and drawbar use.

As a smaller version of the Muli range, the Muli 40, like its larger siblings, was designed as an all-wheel-drive carrier for steep terrain, with a comparatively small-displacement but high-revving four-cylinder engine. The marked weight differences between versions a, b and c point to different bodies, such as a flatbed, tipper or load platform with extra payload reserve.

When buying a used Muli 40, it is worth first establishing which of the three versions, a, b or c, is at hand, since weight and therefore payload differ noticeably. Because of the high-revving engine with a rated speed of 3,000 rpm, it is also worth carefully checking the valve gear and cooling system, since high-revving four-cylinder engines of this age are more sensitive to wear than slow-running tractor diesels.
