The L series emerged after the merger of Ford New Holland with Fiat's agricultural machinery division in the early 1990s and ran into the late 1990s under the New Holland Geotech name before the Geotech suffix was dropped. The four types L 60, L 65, L 75 and L 95 represent the lower to mid power class of this transitional generation, with the number roughly indicating the power step; the DT suffix denotes the four-wheel-drive version.

The L series was aimed at smaller to medium arable and grassland farms and formed the lower end of the New Holland range of these years, in direct competition with comparable series from Deutz-Fahr, Same and Massey Ferguson. Distribution ran through the existing Ford and New Holland dealer network, which was gradually converted to the new brand identity during this transitional period.
On a used purchase, check the condition of the clutch and gearbox, the tightness of the hydraulics, and corrosion on wings and steering knuckles; on DT four-wheel-drive versions also the front-axle drive and joints, with parts running through the New Holland network.
