The Geotech TL range brings together New Holland's mid-range tractors TL 70, TL 80 and TL 100, built in the 1990s at the Jesi plant in Italy – the same site where Fiat had already built the group's mid-range and specialist tractors. The type number follows the logic common to Fiat and New Holland, roughly denoting the power class in hp, while the A suffix marks the four-wheel-drive version of each model.

In this power class the TL range competed in the mid-1990s with the mid-range tractors of Deutz-Fahr, Massey Ferguson, Case IH and Landini; as a versatile yard and field tractor it filled the gap between the brand's smaller compact models and its large field tractors, with a conventional cab and mechanically shifted transmission.
On a used TL, the condition of the clutch and shuttle transmission, the tightness of the hydraulics and PTO, rust on the wings, steps and chassis, and the condition of the cab seals and the simple electrics of this era all count; parts run through the New Holland network. A service history documenting regular oil, filter and hydraulic fluid changes is a good sign on a tractor of this age.
