Mulag, based in Oppenau in the Black Forest, specialises in municipal and embankment mowing technology and also built its own small carrier vehicles for this purpose. The MD series with the 14-4 and MD 22 models belongs to these compact carrier tractors, which served as the base for mower booms and other implements on roadside verges and embankments.

For maintaining road embankments and municipal green spaces, the compact, manoeuvrable design of Mulag's carrier vehicles was decisive, allowing work in spots barely accessible to larger standard tractors. Mulag thereby still occupies a niche between the classic farm tractor and a purely municipal machine.
When buying used, the power take-off, mounting interfaces for mower booms and the hydraulic supply deserve particular attention, since these carrier vehicles usually ran continuously with implements attached. Cooling and clutch merit attention given the frequent short-distance and standing loads; spare parts are sourced from workshops specialising in municipal equipment.
