Trailers of this weight class carry round timber, construction machinery, containers or bulk goods behind heavy semi-trailer or drawbar combinations; the length span from just over ten to over 13 metres covers both shorter platform trailers and long timber trailers. As with other heavy platform trailers in northern Europe, operation within raised combination weights is common practice here, placing higher demands on the brakes and axle loads.
On a used heavy platform trailer, the condition of frame and stakes, the function of axles, brakes and lift axles, the condition of the trailer coupling, and a complete test history matching the high gross weight all count; on versions with hydraulic stakes their tightness and function also matter. Matching the permitted axle loads to the intended use matters as much before buying as checking the stake pockets for wear.
