The high unladen weights of over 37 tonnes show that most of the mass is not the trailer itself but the grinding unit mounted on it; such machines process green waste, tree trunks and bulky waste into wood chips for recycling yards, biomass power plants and forestry businesses. Moving the machine between work sites is usually handled by a separate tractor unit, since these heavy grinders are not self-propelled.

On a used trailer-mounted grinder, the operating hours of the engine and grinding mechanism, the condition of the hammer or knife tooling, wear on the screen basket, the condition of the conveyor and hydraulics, and the frame, axles and brakes of the carrier chassis all count; spare parts for the grinding mechanism's wear items run through the Morbark dealer network.
