Mitsubishi L300 – the semi-forward-control van since 1978: PV, DUB.CAB and 4WD versions, petrol and diesel engines of 1.6 to 2.5 litres, 64 kW, up to 2.8 tonnes gross weight
The L300 is Mitsubishi's light van with semi-forward-control bodywork, in the range since 1978, originally built in Japan and later under licence in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan, where it remained in production in places into the mid-2010s, while in Europe it was replaced in the 1990s by the successor Delica/L400. The designations PV, DUB.CAB and Long give the body and wheelbase: PV stands for panel van, DUB.CAB for double cab, 4WD for four-wheel drive. The L300 was offered as a panel van, window van, pick-up and minibus with petrol and diesel engines.

In Southeast Asia the L300 remains to this day a workhorse for tradespeople, small-scale haulage and shared taxis (replacing the jeepney in the Philippines); in Europe of the 1980s and 1990s it was a low-cost alternative to the VW Transporter and Ford Transit for trades and small businesses.
On used examples, corrosion on the load floor, sliding-door tracks and suspension mounts, the condition of the clutch and brake booster, on diesel versions (4D56) the cylinder head gasket and injection pump, and on 4WD versions the transfer case and freewheel hubs all count; in Europe spare parts are now only available through specialists.
