The single-cylinder engine displaces 625 cm³ and produces 12 hp, or 8.83 kW, is air-cooled, and gives the UD 12 a top speed of 16 km/h. On a 1,500 mm wheelbase the tractor weighs just 850 kg, measuring 3,200 mm in length, 1,700 mm in width and 1,300 mm in height, a small, light machine for an equally small holding.
Air cooling made such single cylinders resistant to frost damage and simple to maintain, since there was no radiator, water pump or hoses to fail; in return, noise and vibration levels were higher than with water-cooled engines. For light towing and attachment work on small plots this was an acceptable trade-off, one common among many small post-war manufacturers of the time.
A tractor of this size and age is today mainly a collector's piece. What matters is the condition of the cylinder's cooling fins, wear on the single-cylinder drivetrain, and rust on the chassis. Spare parts for this small, rare manufacturer are found almost exclusively through collector circles.
