Meiller, a Munich-based maker, is known chiefly for tipping bodies and tipping semi-trailers; the three-way design allows unloading to both sides and to the rear, suiting changing unloading situations in earthworks and building-material haulage. Compared with a simple rear tipper, the three-way design saves manoeuvring time, since the load can be tipped to the appropriate side without turning the combination around.
When buying used, what counts on three-way tipping semi-trailers is the condition of the tipping body, hydraulic cylinders and side locks, corrosion and deformation of the body floor from abrasion by bulk material, the tightness of the hydraulic system, and the condition of axles and brakes; a current inspection report should be in place before purchase.
