The 100 series replaced the 10 series in the mid-1960s and, with the MF 135, became one of the best-selling tractors in company history — built at several plants worldwide, from Coventry to developing countries.

The register lists 34 live models, from the MF 122 to the MF 165, built between 1964 and 1979. Output ranges from 17.7 to 54.5 kW, or 24 to 67 hp, weight from 1,230 to 3,180 kg, displacement from 1,621 to 4,067 cm3, across two-, three- and four-cylinder engines.

A defining feature was the continued refinement of the Ferguson System's hydraulic lift control, paired with increasingly comfortable cab options and optional four-wheel drive on later models such as the MF 165.

Thanks to its enormous production numbers and good parts availability, the 100 series remains an entry-level classic for tractor restorers and a reliable working tractor on smaller farms today.

A defining check when buying a used 100 series is the Ferguson System hydraulics for draft control, whose valves frequently leak after decades in the field, and, on the rarer four-wheel-drive models such as the MF 165, the condition of the front axle and transfer gearbox. PTO and three-point hitch on this power class follow the standardised ISO 730 Category I at 540 rpm, which still ensures compatibility with a wide range of implements today.
