Lamborghini Trattori, founded in 1948 by Ferruccio Lamborghini and part of the SAME group since 1972, also built the Crono range in Pieve di Cento in Emilia-Romagna. The type code follows a fixed pattern: the first three digits give the model series, the number after the hyphen the engine power in horsepower – the 554-50 with 50 hp, the 564-60 with 60 hp and the 574-70 with 70 hp – while the DT suffix stands for Doppia Trazione, the four-wheel drive fitted to all three models in this range.

The Crono range covered the 50 to 70 hp power segment, where Lamborghini competed against its own group sister SAME as well as Fiat, Deutz-Fahr and Renault; the standard four-wheel drive made the models particularly attractive on slopes and for heavier soil work.
On a used purchase of these three-cylinder diesels with four-wheel drive, the condition of the front axle with its transfer gearbox and drive shafts counts, the clutch and gearbox, the tightness of injection pump and cooling system, and rust on mudguards and cab; parts run through the SAME Deutz-Fahr network.
