The R2 range is a compact line of Lamborghini Trattori models whose type logic follows Italian convention: the number after the dot in designations from R2.56 to R2.100 roughly gives the horsepower class, directly reflected in the register's values of 55 to 95 hp. All five models share the same 3.0-litre three-cylinder diesel engine, tuned differently model to model – a standard solution with which Lamborghini, as part of the SAME Deutz-Fahr group, pools development cost across an entire power class. The tractors were offered with either an open platform or an enclosed cab, visible in the register through the differing weight and height figures per version.

The register lists 5 versions with an engine of 3,000 cm³, outputs of 40.5 to 70 kW, operating weights of 2,400 to 3,410 kg depending on cab version, lengths of 3,405 to 3,700 mm and heights of 2,375 to 2,460 mm at 2,200 rpm.
The R2 range was conceived as a versatile farmyard and field tractor for small and medium-sized farms, in a power class where it competed directly with the comparable ranges of its group siblings Deutz-Fahr and Same.
On used tractors, the condition of clutch and gearbox, leak-free hydraulics, on the cab version the condition of seals and glass, and rust on the wings count; parts supply runs through the SAME Deutz-Fahr dealer network.
