Lamborghini Trattori is the company with which Ferruccio Lamborghini began in 1948 in Pieve di Cento near Bologna – twenty years before the sports cars he built tractors from military-surplus engines and then with his own diesels, until he sold the tractor division in 1973 to SAME of Treviglio, where the brand lives on today in the SDF group. The R series in the register spans both eras: the early 1 R, 2 R, 4 R and 7 R-Super of the 1960s are Lamborghini's own designs with air-cooled engines, the three-digit R 226 to R 480 and the four-digit R.1106 to R.1506 the SAME era from the 1970s. The number logic of the SAME years: the first digit gives the cylinder count, the following ones the output in hp – an R 230 is a two-cylinder with 30 hp, an R 470 a four-cylinder with 70 hp, an R.1106 a six-cylinder with 110 hp; DT stands for Doppia Trazione, four-wheel drive.

The register lists 14 versions with 19.1 to 110.3 kW (26 to 150 hp), 1,462 to 6,000 cm³ with two to six cylinders, torque from 118 to 536 Nm, unladen weights from 1,000 to 5,695 kg, lengths from 2,250 to 4,450 mm, widths from 1,330 to 2,360 mm and heights from 1,100 to 2,820 mm – all diesel.
The air-cooled SAME direct-injection engines that also powered the Lamborghinis in the SAME era were the group's technical hallmark; the Lamborghini brand served the upper segment with full equipment.
Used, the early R models are collector pieces with a bull-badge premium, the SAME-era types robust farmyard tractors; when buying, engine condition (cylinders and blower on air-cooled units), gearbox, front axle on DT models and parts supply through SDF are what count.
