Ferruccio Lamborghini founded his tractor works in 1949 near Cento by Ferrara, long before he built the sports-car marque of the same name in 1963; in 1972 he sold the farm-equipment division to the Italian group SAME, under whose roof the Lamborghini Trattori brand is still carried on today as a distinct range within the SAME Deutz-Fahr group. The Premium range denotes the upmarket equipment line of these tractors, and the DT suffix after the type number follows Italian convention for "Doppia Trazione", or four-wheel drive, fitted on every model in the register. The number in the type designation – 850, 1050, 1060, 1100, 1300 – grows with engine size and power class and orders the models from compact to large field tractor.

On used tractors, the condition of clutch and gearbox, leak-free hydraulics and PTO, the condition of four-wheel-drive hubs and front-axle bearings, and rust on wings and cab count; parts supply runs through the SAME Deutz-Fahr dealer network.
