Ferruccio Lamborghini founded his tractor works in 1949 near Cento by Ferrara, long before he built the sports-car marque of the same name in 1963; in 1972 he sold the farm-equipment division to the Italian group SAME, under whose roof the Lamborghini Trattori brand is still carried on today as a distinct range within the SAME Deutz-Fahr group. The Premium range denotes the upmarket equipment line of these tractors, and the DT suffix after the type number follows Italian convention for "Doppia Trazione", or four-wheel drive, fitted on every model in the register.
