The M-60 range forms Kubota's mid-size class of standard tractors between the compact and the big MGX models; the type logic follows the pattern of M plus power class plus the 60 suffix for this generation – the M6060, M7060 and M8560 rise in engine power and equipment. The ROPS version of the M6060 carries an open build with a roll bar instead of a cab, a simpler and lighter design aimed at smaller farms.
