The Grenadier positions itself as a return to the classic, off-road-capable commercial vehicle in the mould of the old Land Rover Defender, with six-cylinder BMW engines and a concept built around repairability and off-road reliability. Classification as a commercial vehicle with N-type approval brings tax or registration advantages over the passenger-car version in some markets.

On a used Grenadier with N-type approval, the condition of the ladder frame and axles, the tightness of the differential locks, and the service history of the BMW six-cylinder engine are the key checks.
