Motorenfabrik Hatz of Ruhstorf an der Rott in Lower Bavaria is known chiefly as a maker of air-cooled industrial diesel engines fitted in construction machinery, compressors and generators. In the post-war years, when numerous German engine builders offered their own field tractors alongside construction equipment, Hatz ran the H range as small to mid-size standard tractors, consistently fitted with Hatz's own diesel engines – from a single cylinder in the lightest to a three-cylinder in the largest models of this range.
