In the early 1960s, the Perfekt series was Hanomag's smaller tractor line from Hanover, aimed at small farms that wanted an agile, affordably priced diesel tractor for everyday work without having to turn to the manufacturer's larger, multi-cylinder series.

The Perfekt 300 is powered by a water-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine of 1,399 cc, producing 25 hp, or 18.3 kW, at 2,400 rpm. At a weight of 1,790 kg, a length of 3,300 mm, a height of 1,510 mm and a width of 1,560 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,035 mm, the machine is a compact tractor whose top speed of 19.3 km/h was enough for short road journeys too.

A water-cooled two-cylinder engine with a comparatively high rated speed of 2,400 rpm ran more smoothly than a single-cylinder unit of the same output and allowed a more compact, lighter engine design. A tractor of this size was built for grassland and field work on smaller plots, driving mounted implements through the pto shaft and light yard haulage, not for heavy draft work.

When buying a Perfekt 300, the condition of the radiator, water pump and coolant hoses matters, along with corrosion on the bonnet, wings and frame. Also worth checking are the clutch and gearbox for wear noises and the brakes; spare parts for such a small and old Hanomag model are now only available from specialist suppliers and salvage stock.
