At 13,850 mm long, 2,500 mm wide and with a 7,200 mm wheelbase, a large share of the permitted weight sits in the body itself, pointing to a particularly robust, heavy build along its full length.

A trailer whose kerb weight takes up such a large share of the gross weight is built for durability and stability rather than maximum payload, as with a massive box body or a vehicle with permanently fitted heavy equipment. The compressed-air brake has to work reliably even with a modest payload, since the kerb weight alone already adds substantially to the braking requirement.

When buying used, the massive body needs checking for wear at the load-bearing connections to the chassis, since the high kerb weight acts there permanently. The air lines and coupling heads should be checked for leaks, as should the wheel bearings along the 7,200 mm wheelbase. Tyres and lighting also belong in the inspection. The kingpin or drawbar eye is also worth checking closely, since it carries the pulling load of an already heavy, largely self-weighted trailer.
