Ford/Shibaura 10 compact series (1983–1987) – the middle generation of the Japanese compact tractors in Ford blue: 1110 to 2110, the first digits as size class, 10 as series, A for four-wheel drive
The 10 compact series sits between the 100 series of 1973 and the 20 series of 1987 – the middle of the three generations in which Ford sourced compact tractors from Shibaura of Matsumoto in Japan and sold them in North America and Europe under its own name. The type logic: the first digits order the size in ascending order – 1110 the smallest two-cylinder, 1310 to 1710 the three-cylinders, 1910 and 2110 the four-cylinders of up to 38 hp – 10 marks the series, A four-wheel drive, which became the rule on the larger models. The engines are Shibaura diesels of 0.7 to 2.3 litres at 2,500 to 2,800 rpm, air-cooled in the smallest and water-cooled in the other models; the transmissions were manual gearboxes with up to twelve speeds, the hydrostatic transmission only came with the 20 series.

In North America the 10s are the typical compact tractors of hobby farms and municipalities of their time; their technology lives on in New Holland's compact tractors from Japan to this day.
