Fendt builds its Vario tractors in Marktoberdorf in Upper Bavaria and in 1996 became the first manufacturer to introduce a stepless transmission as standard in full-size tractors. The Vario 500 range with the 513 and 514 types follows a type logic where the first digit, 5, denotes the range and the following digits the approximate power step within it. Both models are approved for running on diesel or the biofuel RME.
