Fendt F 255 GT: air-cooled three-cylinder diesel implement carrier from 1976 to 1984, 2,826 cc, 37 kW and mid-mounted implement space between the axles
Fendt is a German tractor manufacturer based in Marktoberdorf in the Allgäu region, part of the American AGCO corporation since 1997. The F 255 GT belongs to the implement-carrier category, in which attachments are not mounted at the front or rear as on an ordinary tractor but between the axles.

The F 255 GT is powered by an air-cooled three-cylinder diesel engine of 2,826 cc, producing 50 hp, or 37 kW, at 2,300 rpm. With platform and cab fitted, the machine weighs 3,005 kg, is 4,637 mm long, 2,564 mm high and 1,879 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 2,996 mm; top speed is 30 km/h, and the fast gear range can be locked out.
Mounting the implement between the axles gives a better view of the working tool and a more favourable weight distribution than front-mounting on an ordinary tractor, making the implement carrier suitable for mowing, sweeping and loading work in municipal and agricultural use. The ability to lock out the fast gear range points to applications where a lower top speed was required or desired, for instance when working with mounted implements.
When buying such an implement carrier secondhand, the condition of the mounting interface between the axles, including its hydraulic lines, matters most, since it carries most of the mechanical load. Also worth checking are the cooling fins and fan of the air-cooled engine, the condition of the cab and platform, and the clutch, gearbox and brakes; spare parts for this vehicle class are scarcer than for ordinary field tractors.
