Fendt Farmer 2S/2SA – the small Farmer range from Marktoberdorf of the 1960s: three-cylinder diesel with 30.5 kW/42 hp, 2,233 cm³ displacement and 2,225 to 2,510 kg unladen weight
Fendt was founded in 1930 by Xaver Fendt in Marktoberdorf in the Allgäu and built its first own diesel tractors there in the 1930s under the name Dieselross; from the late 1950s this grew into the Farmer range with an enclosed, styled sheet-metal body. The Farmer 2S belongs to the small to mid-size class of this Farmer 2 generation of the 1960s; the A in the Farmer 2SA version has consistently marked four-wheel drive at Fendt since that time.

Marktoberdorf was and is Fendt's home plant and remains the group's tractor-production site to this day; the Farmer range of the 1960s formed the backbone of the Bavarian family firm in the West German market for small and mid-size farms, before Fendt moved upmarket in the 1970s with the Favorit range.
On these early Farmer tractors, condition of the sheet-metal body and mudguards for rust, condition of injection pump, starter and alternator, tightness of the mechanical steering and the clutch count when buying used; parts run through dealers specialising in Fendt classics, since Fendt's regular parts service no longer carries the Farmer 2 range.
