The Farmer 2 belonged in the 1960s to the lower class of the Fendt Farmer range and was offered in the Farmer 2, Farmer 2 DE, Farmer 2 E and Farmer 2 S variants, which differed in equipment and drivetrain details. Over the decades, the Farmer name stood at Fendt for the mid and lower power class of the brand's conventional field tractors.

As a compact tractor in the 35 to 42 hp range, the Farmer 2 targeted smaller and mid-sized farms looking for an agile, versatile three-cylinder tractor for fieldwork, yard duties and light transport tasks, without the investment in the larger Farmer models.
On these historic Fendt tractors, what counts is rust on the frame, mudguards and bonnet, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, the tightness of the hydraulics and lift linkage, and the function of the lighting system and instruments. Spare parts for the engine and gearbox are today available mainly through specialist Fendt vintage-tractor dealers and Fendt clubs.
