Fendt 800 Vario (since 2000) – the Marktoberdorf large tractors between 700 and 900: 815 to 818, 819 and 820, 822 to 828, TMS, greentec with SCR, Deutz six-cylinders of 6.06 litres, 110 to 205 kW

At Fendt the 800 Vario fills the gap between the 700 Vario and the 900 Vario: the large tractor for arable farms and contractors, which appeared in 2000 as the 815 to 818 Vario and has run in three generations since. The type logic: the 8 stands for the series, the following digits order the power step in ascending order – 815 about 150 hp, 820 about 200 hp, 828 about 280 hp – Vario for the continuously variable transmission Fendt had introduced in the 926 in 1995, TMS for the tractor management system that automatically matches engine and transmission. The first generation 815 to 818 ran until 2005, the second 819 and 820 from 2006 to 2010, the third 822 to 828 from 2010 with the suffix greentec on the 820, which denotes SCR aftertreatment with AdBlue – in 2008 Fendt was the first tractor maker to bring SCR into series production. The engines are Deutz six-cylinders of 6.06 litres in all generations.

The 828 Vario with 280 hp from six litres is Fendt's example of the high specific output of modern tractor engines; the Vario transmission with clutchless reversing and the suspended cab are the reasons the 800s hold high prices on the used market.

On used tractors, operating hours, the condition of the Vario transmission (oil analysis, behaviour when reversing), engine and aftertreatment on greentec and 822 models, front-axle suspension, hydraulics and the electronics of the Varioterminal cab are what count.
