Eicher/massey Ferguson Phase III-Baureihe
1 model in this series
Massey Ferguson 1132 (Eicher, Phase III range): large air-cooled six-cylinder diesel with 5,890cc displacement, 133 hp and a weight of 5,860 kg, built from 1977 to 1982
The MF 1132 belongs to a range of large air-cooled tractors that the Bavarian manufacturer Eicher built in Germany for Massey Ferguson; the machines carried the joint Eicher/Massey Ferguson designation. The Phase III range was built between 1977 and 1982, a period in which large arable farms increasingly demanded tractors with considerably more power than the standard models common until then.

The air-cooled six-cylinder diesel engine of 5,890cc produces 133 hp (97.9 kW) at 2,300 rpm and delivers 450 Nm of torque. At 5,860 kg, 4,610 mm long, 2,720 mm high and 2,330 mm wide, the MF 1132 counts among the heaviest air-cooled tractors of its time; the wheelbase is 2,730 mm and the top speed 30 km/h.
At nearly six tonnes and 133 hp, the MF 1132 was built for primary tillage of large arable areas with wide ploughs, cultivators and disc harrows, not for work with light mounted implements. Its design top speed of 30 km/h is well below the 40 km/h limit that defines Germany's tractor licence class L.
When buying one of these large air-cooled six-cylinder tractors second-hand, the condition of the cooling fan and its drive, along with possible cracks in the cylinder heads, matter most, as the large engine unit needs high cooling capacity under continuous use. Also worth checking are the three-point linkage and its couplings, given the heavy mounted implements this tractor was built for, as well as the clutch and gearbox for wear from decades of field work.
