Eicher L – standard tractors from Dingolfing: L 24 and L 40/I with two- to three-cylinder diesel, 18 to 33 kW, 1,810 to 3,990 cm³
The L range marked the mid-size class in Eicher's line-up, built in Dingolfing in Lower Bavaria, where the maker erected a dedicated plant for its diesel standard tractors from the 1950s onward. The L 24 and L 40/I show the range's type logic: the number denotes the approximate output in metric horsepower, so the two-cylinder L 24 sits at the lower and the three-cylinder L 40/I at the upper end of the range. The L range thus covered the middle segment between the small G types and Eicher's larger standard tractors.

The register lists here 2 versions with 18 to 33 kW (24 to 45 hp) from two- to three-cylinder diesel engines of 1,810 to 3,990 cm³ displacement, with unladen weights from 1,150 to 2,350 kg, lengths from 2,930 to 3,300 mm, widths from 1,510 to 1,860 mm and heights from 1,600 to 1,780 mm.
The L range was the classic all-rounder on medium-sized Bavarian and southern German farms of the post-war years, competing there with Deutz, Fendt and Güldner, and benefited from Eicher's diesel development, as the maker committed early to its own diesel engines unlike many competitors.
When buying used, check engine bearings and the injection pump on the older two-cylinders, the clutch and gearbox under heavier loads, rust on the radiator and bonnet, and the operation of the hydraulics and PTO. Spares come through specialist Eicher parts dealers and tractor clubs; factory parts are no longer available.
