Eicher 3001 (HR range, 1966–1969): air-cooled four-cylinder diesel with 3,927 cm³, 40 kW at 2,000 rpm and a 20 km/h top speed
In the HR range, Eicher, the Bavarian tractor manufacturer, built versions with an air-cooled four-cylinder engine. The 3001 was built from 1966 to 1969. The HR range thus rounded out Eicher's mid power segment with a smoothly running four-cylinder alternative to the common two- and three-cylinder models.

The Eicher 3001 carries an air-cooled four-cylinder diesel engine with 3,927 cm³ of displacement, producing 54 hp, or 40 kW, at 2,000 rpm. At 2,675 kg, 3,570 mm long, 1,650 mm high, 1,900 mm wide and with a 2,396 mm wheelbase, the machine reaches a top speed of 20 km/h.
With four air-cooled cylinders and 3,927 cm³ of displacement, the 3001 produces 40 kW at a comparatively low 2,000 rpm and runs more smoothly than smaller two- or three-cylinder engines of the same power class. The machine was built for field work with medium-weight implements and for haulage on medium-sized farms. The comparatively long 2,396 mm wheelbase gave the tractor stable straight-line running during haulage runs.
When buying an air-cooled four-cylinder engine of this age used, the condition of the cooling fan and cooling fins on all four cylinders matters, as uneven cooling airflow can lead to heat damage on individual cylinders. Also worth checking are the injection pump, the condition of the clutch, and corrosion damage to the frame and mudguards.
