The Eicher ES 202 (Puma I) carries an air-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine with 1,963 cm³ of displacement, producing 30 hp, or 22 kW, at 2,000 rpm. At 1,275 kg, 2,475 mm long, 1,176 mm high, 920 mm wide and with a 1,668 mm wheelbase, the machine reaches a top speed of 18.8 km/h.
At just 1,176 mm tall and 920 mm wide, the ES 202 ranks among the lowest and narrowest of the Eicher tractors considered here, suited to work under particularly low roofs and in the narrow lanes of special crops. At 1,275 kg, the machine still stays light enough not to sink even on softer ground. The short 1,668 mm wheelbase also supports a tight turning circle, an advantage when manoeuvring between rows of trees or through narrow yard gateways.
When buying such a low, narrow tractor used, the condition of the front axle bearings matters, as these see greater strain during tight turns. Also worth checking are the cooling airflow of the air-cooled two-cylinder engine, the injection pump, and corrosion damage to the frame and sheet-metal parts, common on tractors of this age.
