Eicher Economy series – the 3000 standard tractors from Forstern of the 1980s: 3056 to 3125, the number as hp class, AS and Allrad, 3 to 6 cylinders, 41 to 92 kW

The Economy series gathers Eicher's standard tractors with four-digit 3000 numbers – the field tractors of the 1980s from Forstern near Munich, with which the maker kept a full range for the family farm alongside the narrow-track specialists of the 500 and 600 series. The type logic: the 30 stands for the series, the following digits roughly give the power class in hp – 3056 about 56 hp, 3088 about 88 hp, 3125 about 125 hp – S marks the standard version, AS and Allrad four-wheel drive. The range runs from the three-cylinder of 2,945 cm³ to the six-cylinder of 5,890 cm³; one register model is recorded with the Elsbett multi-fuel engine that runs on vegetable oil – an experiment of the 1980s in which Eicher took part as one of the few makers.

The register lists 12 versions with 41 to 91.5 kW (88 to 125 hp where output is recorded), 2,945 to 5,890 cm³ with three to six cylinders, rated speeds of 2,050 to 2,300 rpm, torque from 315 to 452 Nm, unladen weights from 2,950 to 5,630 kg, lengths from 3,530 to 4,335 mm, widths from 1,995 to 2,430 mm and heights from 2,410 to 2,785 mm; the rear linkage lifts 3,700 kg.

The 3000s were Eicher's attempt to hold its ground in the mid-range against Fendt, Deutz and the importers – volumes stayed small, and with the end of tractor production in Forstern in the 1990s the range ended.

Used 3000s are rare and sought after by Eicher collectors; when buying, engine condition, gearbox and hydraulics, the front axle on four-wheel-drive models and parts supply, which runs through specialists and the club scene, are what count.
