MS-RT models are aimed at customers who want to combine the working base of a pick-up and a panel van with sportier styling and adjusted suspension; the engine and drivetrain largely correspond to Ford's series-production models, while the body, suspension tuning and equipment are adapted without compromising the payload and reliability of the base vehicles.

When buying these vehicles, as with the base Ford models, the condition of the two-litre diesel engine and the four-wheel drive on the Ranger, and the brakes and suspension, matter most; MS-RT-specific parts are available through the Ford dealer network and the converter itself, the rest of the mechanicals through the regular Ford parts supply, which makes upkeep easier than for less well-known small-series conversions.
