Doppstadt is a German manufacturer of shredding and recycling equipment for green waste, wood and municipal refuse. The Systra range covers more compact, self-propelled carriers from this line-up; the Systra 550 has air-oil cooling. The four-cylinder diesel engine with 2,723 cm³ of displacement produces 54 hp, or 40 kW, at 2,650 rpm. At 2,900 kg, 3,990 mm long, 2,260 mm high and 1,540 mm wide, the machine reaches a top speed of 40 km/h with a 2,280 mm wheelbase.
With 40 kW from a compact four-cylinder engine, the Systra 550 is markedly smaller than the large Grizzly machines from the same manufacturer and serves as a carrier for lighter shredding or processing attachments, of the kind used in municipal green-space maintenance or at smaller recycling yards.
When buying such a used carrier, the condition of the engine and cooling system matters, especially since the air-oil cooling combination depends on proper oil circulation. Also worth checking are the power transmission to the working unit, the condition of the hydraulics, and wear on bearings and seals in the chassis, and on a carrier with interchangeable attachments, the condition of the quick couplers and hydraulic lines feeding them.
