Deutz-Fahr introduced the 5C range as a variant of the Series 5 with a larger four-cylinder engine. The 5100C targets holdings needing more engine power than the smaller three-cylinder versions of the Series 5, for instance for heavier tillage or frequent transport work.

The four-cylinder diesel engine with 3,620 cm³ displacement is water-cooled and produces 95 hp, or 69.5 kW, at 2,000 rpm. At 4,400 kg weight and 2,700 mm height, the 5100C ranks among the more powerful versions of the Series 5; compared with the three-cylinder variants of around 3,000 cm³, displacement rises noticeably here, aimed at smoother running and higher torque at lower engine speeds.

With a top speed of 40 km/h, the 5100C reaches the upper limit of driving licence category L. The water-cooled four-cylinder engine with 95 hp allows the use of larger tillage implements and heavier trailers than the three-cylinder variants of the same series, suiting holdings that combine field work with transport.

When buying a 5100C, check the condition of the radiator, water pump and coolant hoses of the four-cylinder engine, and the tightness of the hydraulic system. Also check the clutch and gearbox, which carry a heavier load in this more powerful version than in the smaller variants of the Series 5, as well as the three-point linkage couplings and the condition of the tyres after years of field and road use.
