Steyr CVT 6200 (fourth CVT generation, 2009–2012): six-cylinder diesel with 6,728 cm³, a stepless transmission and 145 kW
Steyr developed continuously variable transmissions for its tractors in the CVT range, built in St. Valentin, Austria, within the CNH group. The fourth generation of this CVT range was built from 2009 to 2012, with the CVT 6200 as its version in the upper power bracket.

The Steyr CVT 6200 carries a water-cooled six-cylinder diesel engine with 6,728 cm³ of displacement, producing 197 hp, or 145 kW, at 2,200 rpm, and able to run on diesel or biodiesel. At 7,200 kg, 5,017 mm long, 3,090 mm high, 2,682 mm wide and with a 2,884 mm wheelbase, the machine reaches a top speed of 40 km/h.
The stepless CVT transmission keeps the six-cylinder engine within its economical speed range regardless of travel speed, whether ploughing at a crawl or hauling near top speed, without the driver having to shift gears. At 145 kW and 6,728 cm³, the CVT 6200 ranks among the more powerful standard tractors for large-scale field and draft work.
When buying a CVT tractor used, the condition of the stepless transmission itself matters most, as repairing it is more involved and costlier than a conventional gearbox; a test drive across the whole speed range is worthwhile for that reason. Also worth checking are cooling performance under full load, the tightness of the hydraulic connections, and the condition of the clutch plates in the drivetrain.
