The Chevrolet Sport Van, also listed as Sportvan, is the passenger and higher-trim version of the full-size American Chevy Van (G series); the number in designations such as G20 or SPORT VAN 20 gives the payload class, K6 a four-wheel-drive version. Beauville was the upmarket trim line of the Sport Van, with extra glazing and seat finishing. The model names also include Dutch terms: Kampeerwagen denotes a motorhome conversion, and Dubbel Cabine a version with a double row of seats in the front passenger area.

For decades the G series was the full-size van of the US market for families, congregations and small businesses, and thanks to its simple ladder frame it also frequently served as the base for motorhome and special conversions, as the Kampeerwagen conversions in the model line-up show; in Europe the vehicles arrived mostly as imports.
When buying used, what matters on the V6 and V8 engines is the condition of the carburettor or fuel injection, the distributor and cooling system, and on the ladder frame, rust on the frame and spring mounts. On motorhome conversions, the condition of the body conversion, damp and the gas system also form part of the check; spare parts are widespread through the American import parts trade.
