The MX series of Case IH with the suffix C forms a version of the mid to upper general-purpose tractor class; the types MX 80 C, MX 90 C and MX 100 C share the same four-cylinder engine of 3,990 cm³ displacement, the number in the type ordering the power step. As powerful general-purpose tractors, the MX-C series is aimed at medium and larger arable farms for tillage, drilling and haulage work and stands in direct competition with comparable series from New Holland, Fendt and John Deere. The powerful hydraulics and high drawbar output made the MX-C models suitable also for running heavy tillage implements such as cultivators and disc harrows.
