Bucher-Guyer was a Swiss maker of agricultural machinery based in Niederweningen in the canton of Zurich, whose tractor production has today become part of the Bucher Industries group. The D series with the 1700, 2000, 4000 and D 1800 models comprises compact two- to four-cylinder diesel tractors, typical of the small-structured farming of Switzerland.

The register lists here 4 versions with 17.7 to 27.9 kW from two- to four-cylinder engines of 1,701 to 2,078 cm³ displacement, unladen weights from 1,325 to 1,495 kg, lengths from 2,510 to 2,870 mm, widths from 1,520 to 1,580 mm and heights from 1,400 to 1,440 mm – all with diesel engines.
The D models were designed as manoeuvrable yard tractors for Swiss mountain and hill farming, where narrow plots, steep slopes and limited turning circles posed different requirements than the lowland farming of neighbouring countries; they competed there with other Swiss small-tractor brands.
Used, the D models call for checking engine condition and the injection pump, clutch and transmission, brakes on slopes, and the condition of sheet metal and hydraulic hoses; front-axle bearings and the PTO are also worth a look on the older vintages. Parts are today offered mainly by Swiss farm-machinery specialists and the Bucher Industries successor business.
