The register lists here 13 versions with displacements from 1,384 to 1,758 cm³, all four-cylinder, unladen weights from 1,200 to 1,740 kg, gross weights from 1,300 to 3,500 kg, a length of about 5,160 mm and widths from 1,720 to 2,100 mm.

The Borgward B 1000 and B 1500 vans were among the common light commercial vehicles in West Germany during the 1950s, competing directly with the early Ford transporters and the VW Type 2. With the 1961 insolvency they disappeared from the market, though many still-running examples stayed in service with tradespeople and delivery businesses until parts became scarce.

On a used example today, these are without exception vehicles for collectors and restorers: what matters is rust on the chassis and cab, the original condition of the four-cylinder petrol engine, an overhaul of the hydraulic drum brake system, and the load bed; parts have, since the factory closed more than six decades ago, been obtainable only through Borgward clubs and specialists.
