The MTZ-60 and MTZ-62 come from the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) in what is now the Republic of Belarus, which from the 1950s built universal tractors under the export brand Belarus for the Soviet market and later worldwide. The number sequence orders the models within the power class; the -62 suffix marks a variant with different equipment or drive compared with the -60, as was typical for MTZ within one range. Both types belong to the classic MTZ tractor family, designed with simple mechanics and rugged construction for durability under basic workshop conditions.

The Belarus tractors from Minsk were among the most widely built tractors of the Eastern bloc and were exported through state foreign trade to well over a hundred countries, from Eastern Europe through Africa to Latin America, where their simple technology and good parts supply keep them in use to this day. In Western Europe they found buyers mainly as an affordable alternative to Western makers on smaller and medium-sized farms.
Buying one of these rugged but simply equipped tractors used, check the condition of the injection pump, the tightness of engine and hydraulics, and rust on the mudguards and cab; the mechanical steering and brakes should be checked for play and even action. Spare parts for MTZ tractors remain well available thanks to the huge production numbers and manufacturing that continues in Minsk to this day.
