The four-cylinder diesel engine produces 90 kW (122.5 hp) at 2,200 rpm and moves a vehicle 3,035 mm wide and 3,950 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,800 mm and an unladen weight of 11,900 kg. The considerable height of almost 4 metres, combined with a four-cylinder that is only moderately powered relative to the weight, points to a vehicle design built for a tall superstructure rather than for field work.

At a top speed of 26.5 km/h, the MLH-414 stays within driving licence category L up to 40 km/h. A height of 3,950 mm exceeds the clearance of many gates, bridges and underpasses that apply to ordinary vehicles in road traffic and calls for corresponding attention when planning a route.

When buying such a tall chassis second-hand, the condition of the axle suspension and frame, the tightness of the engine and hydraulics, and the condition of the tyres, which are put under particular strain at this weight, matter most. Because so few such special versions were built, spare parts for the superstructure and frame are usually only obtainable through custom remanufacture. It is also worth checking the welds and mounting points of the superstructure after years of use, since at this height and weight any crack at a mounting point spreads quickly.
