Astra, with its plant in Piacenza and part of the Italian Iveco group, builds a range of articulated dump trucks under the ADT designation. The numbers in the types 25, 30, 35 and 40 order machine size roughly by payload class in tonnes, as is common for articulated dump trucks; all four models are powered by six-cylinder diesel engines from Iveco's Cursor family, the smaller Cursor 10 in the lighter and the larger Cursor 13 in the heavier versions.

Articulated dump trucks of this class haul in earthworks, open-pit mining and off-road terrain, where the articulated steering and all-wheel drive give better traction than rigid dump trucks, especially in wet weather and on soft ground. Astra competes there with Volvo, Bell and Caterpillar for work in earthmoving and mining.
Buying used, check the articulation joint and oscillating axles, the dump body for cracks and wear, tyre condition given the vehicle's considerable weight, and the hours on the Cursor units. Brakes and the retarder also deserve close attention at this weight class; parts run through the Iveco network.
