The GT series covered the compact utility-tractor class at the Allis-Gleaner Corporation (AGCO): the GT-45, GT-55, GT-65 and GT-75 with three- and four-cylinder diesel engines, whose type numbers give the approximate power step. The Allis-Gleaner Corporation emerged in 1990 from the management buyout of the farm-equipment division of Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz, previously Deutz-Allis, laying the foundation of today's AGCO group.

As a smaller series alongside the big DT standard tractors, the GT series targeted mixed farms and grassland operations with lower power needs, where manoeuvrability and lower weight mattered more than on the heavy field tractors, for instance in feeding or yard transport.
Used, the GT series calls for checking engine condition and the injection pump, clutch and transmission under frequent front-loader work, hydraulics and PTO, and front axle and steering; brakes and cab seals are also worth checking. Spare parts run through the AGCO organisation.
