Allis-Gleaner Corporation (AGCO) GT series – GT-45 to GT-75: the compact utility tractors after Deutz-Allis, 38 to 61 kW

The GT series covered the compact utility-tractor class at the Allis-Gleaner Corporation (AGCO): the GT-45, GT-55, GT-65 and GT-75 with three- and four-cylinder diesel engines, whose type numbers give the approximate power step. The Allis-Gleaner Corporation emerged in 1990 from the management buyout of the farm-equipment division of Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz, previously Deutz-Allis, laying the foundation of today's AGCO group.

The register lists here 4 versions with 38.2 to 61 kW from three- and four-cylinders of 2,999 to 3,999 cm³ displacement, torque from 205 to 321 Nm at 2,200 rpm, unladen weights from 2,419 to 2,739 kg, lengths from 3,701 to 3,851 mm, widths from 1,788 to 1,948 mm and heights from 2,631 to 2,692 mm – all with diesel engines.

As a smaller series alongside the big DT standard tractors, the GT series targeted mixed farms and grassland operations with lower power needs, where manoeuvrability and lower weight mattered more than on the heavy field tractors, for instance in feeding or yard transport.

Used, the GT series calls for checking engine condition and the injection pump, clutch and transmission under frequent front-loader work, hydraulics and PTO, and front axle and steering; brakes and cab seals are also worth checking. Spare parts run through the AGCO organisation.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
